Sponge Iron

Sponge Iron (DRI)

High Carbon grade

High-carbon Sponge iron is an alternative to scrap in EAF, as it is chemically homogeneous, free of harmful or redundant elements, and requires less coke and secondary metallurgical operations. Due to the specific combination of DRI, it is possible to accurately predict the final analysis of steel in continuous feeding with sponge iron. In EAF-based processes, also using DRI cause to reduce the amount of electricity consumed by 15 kWh/MT, and the consumption of electrode and refractory will be reduced

Low Carbon Grade

The low-carbon DRI is used in the induction furnaces up to 50% in the furnace feeding regime as a replacement of the scrap, depending on the production (normal or alloy steel). Moreover, If the decarbonization process takes place, using more percentage of DRI in the furnace feed regime will be possible
